GE T-520SW on Secure Perfect System

Post by tjohnson »

The badge reader is making one long beep with a red LED every few minutes. I looked in the troubleshooting section, but didn't find my specific issue. The badge reader does read the card, however, I don't get a green LED and the door doesn't open...But secure perfect does show a valid read in the software.... anybody know what to do??

the problem is with the hardware, here are a few things to do and think about.
unlock the door via the software
does this door's green LED usually follow the lock
hardware - is the problem the lock, lock power, door access hardware, relay fired by the access hardware, fire release relay
what type of hardware is it. IE micro5, 8RP, ge readers, hid readers ( this one you could answer)
it sounds like the panel is trying to unlock the door.

I see the reader is a t-520, these readers work with F/2F and Wiegand communications. ( which is it?)
is there a J-box in the ceiling or at the panel, good place to start trouble shooting the problem.
F/2F uses J-boxes
if it is f/2f there are 4 wires between the panel and the (j-box/reader/hid interface). one of these wires goes grounded to unlock the door. if you ground the right wire you will unlock the door and hear the j-box relay.
(DO NOT GROUND THE RED WIRE, IT WILL BLOW A FUSE)it is not a great design.
