There should be a small allen screw on the bottom. Depending on the age of the reader there will be two metal prongs that may need adjustment to make contact with the back of the reader. Otherwise it will be a reed type switch. Try adjusting the reader to make sure it fits securely .

Thank you so much for your response - I wondered if anyone even saw my post.

Any suggestion on what to replace this system with? If we could re-use our micro-controllers and existing readers that'd be nice!

I would recommend Lenel Onguard Software with M5 Conversion Boards.

I inherited this system from a previous employee so I know enough to be dangerous. One of our employees came in this morning and said it wouldn't read her badge. I had her call me on her cell phone and it looks like the reader is showing "tamper" lights. How can I reset this?

Secure Perfect system with Micro/5PXN and 940 readers.
