* configure gateway type 3 port on sdu, export gateway files,
* install fireworks 1.41, 1.50 or 1.60 or later
* import sdu create as new node, verify first the data.
* create maps and assign object on tsa maps.
* assign ports
* verify the data.
* and make backup

One thing I like to do is tighten up the SDU's abbreviation and message within objects before exporting for fireworks.
1.03.0144 - SMOKE BAY 5TH GUEST RM 5068
4.06.0133 - PULL CASINO BY HI-LIMIT DOUBLE DOORS

within abbreviation I put the address - (1.03.0144 - )
within the message I start with the type of device
then I export the abbreviation and message
If the SDU message's are all over the place it's painful looking at within Fireworks.
you can use the prefabricated text editor to do the address for the abbreviation.

good luck

Leo,

You do that for all your descriptions in the sdu ?
There is a limited amount of space how do you fit it all in ?

and you said "then I export the abbreviation and message" what you mean by this and how you do it ?

Thanks for your help

Any information or steps are greatly appreciated.. Is there anywhere I can get a procedure to follow ?

When you do the export within the SDU you have the option of adding the abbreviation.
If you are not using a EST3 Extended display (I do not know the part) the SDU will compile with messages that are larger they the allowed space.

I have a Fireworks customer that only looks at the fireworks and never at the EST3 display, so it does not matter how it looks on the EST3 display only the fireworks.

After doing the export within the SDU it will make 4 files, open the large one with wordpad or Excel and look it over, you will get a idea of how it will display in fireworks.

I would work from home, load the SDU and fireworks on your home pc and play around with it. this way you are not around the customer or working on the new fireworks computer. backing the data up from your pc to the fireworks is not a problem.

Getting the fireworks pc up and running and communicating to the est3 panels is a step.
Exporting well layout SDU messages is another important step.
Understanding how the customer is going to use fireworks is probably the most important step, this way you can put together a firework system that will really work for them. I have redone/redesigned systems a few times to get it right.

I have not worked on a fireworks system in over a year so I am a little rusty.

If you do not mind me asking how big is the est3 system and how many hours are you getting to program it.

big job, plenty of time as long as you do not need to import acad drawings and drop devices on them.

I have never had any luck getting a floor plan to work right for a customer.
In most casts the customer does not need or want floor plans with all the rooms and drs and stuff,
it's a good sell, put it never works just right.
draw a TSA around the whole floor and drop all the floors devices in it. haha

Are the fireworks files unable to export or does it create the exported files but also give you this error?

The fireworks files exported from the SDU are just text files, if you know the format of the files you could create them with a text editor.
If you have old SDU exported files you could open them with notepad and compare them to the newer files.

this looks like a windows problem, you should do all updates on the computer that you are doing the export on, if that does not work install the SDU on a different computer with a different OS (XP Windows7) and try again
