most likely you do not need winpak running 24/7, I would set the services to "AUTO" not "start"
so when winpak starts the services start and close winpak when not using it.

RS-485 can be a little tricky to trouble shoot.
start removing panels from the 485 dataline and see what happens.
it is not a bad panel.
also a C100 is for "20 mA Communication Loop" not rs-485

Looking for some expertise here. The alarm technician who originally installed our badge access system and panels has quite literally died. He was the subject matter expert for WIN-PAK and N-1000 panels at his company.

Several times each minute, P-02 throws a Panel Communication Alarm and then Panel Communication Normal.

We have 3 N-1000 panels called P-01, P-02, P-03. The comm loop is RS-485 and the master is P-01. P-02 and P-03 comm appears to be serially connected from P-01.

The WIN-PAK server is Windows7 Enterprise. Dual CPU and 4GB RAM. It's neither CPU nor memory burdened. WIN-PAK is all it runs.

The server has an external RS-232 to RS-486 C100 black brick with 4 LEDs (green orange green orange). The brick has 2 pair that connects to P-01 connector J1.

This was fine for about 6 months (we moved here in April 2013). The Panel Comm alarms started happening a few months ago. The serial cable runs about 20 feet server to panel and looks undamaged.

Is panel P-02 simply failing? I think it's original from the early 90s.
